Welcome Pastor De Anda
by James Kim
Our long wait is over! We want to welcome Pastor Miguel De Anda and his family to the Lighthouse Baptist Church family! Pastor Miguel and Mrs. Abigail have four children: Marianna, an eighth grader, Danny and David, seventh graders, and Alexa, who is in the second grade!
Our Spanish folks worked hard and welcomed their new pastor with 230 in attendance, where they saw several salvations and baptisms. God has big things in store for the Spanish-speaking folks of our area, with Pastor De Anda picking up the mantle of Pastor Fidel Garcia. The vision for the Spanish department has not changed – win souls to Christ and disciple them, teaching them to observe all things the Lord has commanded us.
We are excited about the new bi-lingual tract that is in the works to make it easier for all of us to invite those we meet who speak Spanish. Gospel tracts are sometimes referred to as “paper missionaries” or “silent preachers.” They are a very useful way to start a conversation about God and eternity. Only in eternity will we realize the number of souls who were brought to Christ through the small piece of paper given to a searching soul.
Let us all pray for our Spanish ministry as the De Andas get settled on the Gulf Coast! It is such a privilege for our congregations to be able to work side by side and say with Paul, “…a great door and effectual is opened…” What a wonderful opportunity the Lord has given us to reach our corner of the world with the Gospel – no matter what the language.
