Korean War Veteran Luncheon

Korean War Veteran Luncheon

The Korean Ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church was privileged to have hosted a Korean War Veterans Luncheon on November 5, 2017. James Kim, the Korean pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Randy Tewell, expressed gratitude both to God and to the veterans for their courageous sacrifice and service in Korea many years ago.

With attendance exceeding seventy, including over a dozen members of the Gulf Coast Chapter #001 of the Korean War Veterans Association, Korean church members of Lighthouse Baptist Church, and other Korean residents from the Greater Mobile area, this time of fellowship was memorable. The veterans’ stories about their experiences in Korea were one of the highlights of the luncheon.

Mobile’s Korean community has enjoyed the yearly opportunity to serve our Korean War veterans at the special luncheon. The president of the Gulf Coast Chapter #001 gave a moving speech on the importance of finishing strong and expressed gratitude on behalf of the chapter toward the Korean families for their wholehearted support and honor for Korean War veterans. A personalized bath towel commemorating this luncheon and a gift card to Cracker Barrel were presented to each veteran as a small token of appreciation.

We thank God for the service of the American military during the difficult times of the Korean War and for the opportunity to get together and share their legacy with the next generation.
